Major Update 3-12-10

A few noteworthy events have occurred in the shop.

First off,  the winner of the essay contest is Joe Carrillo.

Joe's essay was pretty weird. I heard he was in advanced English but his essay was all over the place as far as structure and grammar goes.  He did use the word "egalitarian" to describe skateboarding though,  which is great!  It was basically a confusing rant about what he likes about skateboarding. It was incredible and fun to read.  It was the only entry.  Hopefully he will put the wacky looking skateboard to good use somehow.

Next up:

Black Half Cabs

Black Half Cabs are a staple in skateboarding footwear.  Probably the most iconic skateboarding shoe ever.  Owning a pair of these shoes is a small right of passage into skateboarding maturity.  Chances are your favorite pro (or their favorite pro depending on how old you are) has worn through their fair share of standard issue black half cabs. Case in pointone of my all time favorites: Bobby Puleo.

Make sure you click all the links.  The last one is too good.

We've also introduced a new brand of footwear into the shop:

Functional shoes that are made strictly for skateboarding at affordable prices.  The Troopers go for $40 and Emanual Guzman's shoe is only $45.  At those prices it would surely be worth your while to try a pair. Also,  Peter Watkins rides for them...

AK47 is obviously hyped on the new footwear:

Deals and Happenings

We'll be running this one the next few days to give you a chance to get some shirts at a good deal.

We have a very small sampling of Welcome Skateboards in the shop.  PS stix wood means they're quality.  If you're inclined to buy the Owl graphic be quick or I might pick it up first.

We also have a very limited (meaning 1) run of boards from our very own Brian Henderson's company, We Ride At Night.

Killer art-ing from Jay Howell

See you soon

ESSAY CONTEST!

Do you want to win a stupid looking custom cruiser board?

Swing by the shop and drop off an essay of one or two pages in length.  It can be about anything you want.  Here's some possible topics:

*What skateboarding means to me

*Hood Politics

*Things that my dog eats

*Why I deserve this skateboard

*U.S. foreign policy

*Who Is Teh Best SK8r

Get creative. Include your name and age. Whichever entry I like the best gets the board.

In the (fairly likely) event that there are no entries for this contest I'll probably just keep this thing.

Please drop off your essay by March 10th.  The winner will be chosen within a few days after that and posted on here.

In the mean time you might see me riding this thing back and forth between the shop and Sheltons around lunchtime on any given day.
